First Venture into Re-homing

A few weeks ago I had a client call after she adopted Lakota, a 2.5 year old Husky from a shelter about getting started on some training. It quickly became apparent that Lakota was extremely prey aggressive, and would not do well in her home with 2 cats, a bird and an elderly dog (that she did bite and injure, unfortunately). Lakota was on her third home, and if she was returned she would have been put down. Neither one of us wanted this to happen, as it was very clear that the poor girl just had a rough go of it in her first two “homes.” She, being extremely people oriented, would thrive in a home without “prey” animals. I went about using my resources to try to find her a home that would be better suited to her needs. After fielding some gross back-yard breeders, and people who didn’t seem to understand her needs, I found a couple down the street looking to adopt. They have a fully fenced in (6ft!) backyard with lots of room to run, and lots of time to spend giving her cuddles and teaching her how to be a happy and content family member. Even better, they are more than willing to let her current owner visit and spend time with Lakota whenever she wants, as the current owner was very sad to have to re-home her, even after a short amount of time spent with her. Definitely a rewarding experience, even though it was sad to need to re-home her, its good knowing that if you put in the effort and get the word out, you can find the right fit for both people and pets 🙂

Welcome to Furever!

Hi Everyone!

Since I am still in the process of getting my App up and running, I thought I would get a head start on showing how this project could help out animals in need.

Rescues: Send me pictures of adoptable animals, and all relevant information about them to me, and I will post them here in hopes of reaching a potential adopter. Please send contact information and any links to your website for paperwork and other information as well. Also let me know any type of restrictions on the animal, i.e. how far you can adopt out, medical information, good with other animals/have they been tested, etc.

Public: Feel free to scan through and see if your new family member is just a click away!
